Personal branding for real estate agents is not about posting more. It is about what sits in the centre of your content.

In this article: why self promotion kills engagement, the difference between promoting yourself and promoting an idea, a real coaching case of an agent who relocated to Dubai and rebuilt her lead generation from zero, and a simple test to run on your last ten posts. Whom do you think you are?

And why should I listen to you?

Didn't you ask yourself this question honestly, scrolling through the posts on LinkedIn or Instagram?

And here's the thing.

That feeling doesn't come from each and every post. If we go a deeper level, you will understand that everyone who is self-promoting is eventually creating exactly this reaction.

Now turn it around.

You're posting.

Videos, stories, articles. You show up, you say something, you press publish. And then nothing.

Two likes. No comments. No DMs.

Definitely no leads.

You do it again next week, and the week after, and at some point you start thinking: maybe this whole content thing just doesn't work for me.

Maybe it works for other people.

Maybe I'm not that type.

Before you quit, one thing to check. You might not have a content problem.

You might have a self-promotion problem.

Let me tell you about an agent who came to me for coaching.

She had just relocated from Canada, where she had been building her business for years through referrals and door knocking.

She started observing the Dubai market and understood something fast: the way she used to work back home does not work here.

And you cannot rely on any real estate company to hand you leads.

So she made a decision.

Despite being afraid of the camera, her main request in coaching was this: build a personal brand, become camera confident, understand the content game, and create her own idea.

Not to be another salesperson shouting about prices and projects, but to become someone a specific audience could actually relate to.

That is the real work.

And it starts before you touch the camera.

Look at what you've been publishing.

If it sounds like "hi, I've been in Dubai for four years, here's me flying business class, here's me closing multiple deals," that is exactly what creates the "who do you think you are" feeling in your reader.

You've given them two options: believe your claim about yourself, or scroll.

Most people scroll.

Not because they don't like you. Because nothing was offered to them.

Something was only claimed about you.

Self-promotion asks for attention.

Idea promotion creates value, and value is what people actually like and share.

Nobody resists an idea.

People resist a person appointing themselves as an authority.

Give someone an idea they can use, argue with, or repeat to a friend over coffee, and the question in their head changes.

It stops being "who are you" and becomes "what else do you have." This occurred to me recently from my own behavior. I noticed I generally read and interact with people who produce original ideas.

Not with people who list their achievements. Same person, same platform, same face on camera. What changed is what you put in the center.

Here is a test you can run today. Open your last ten posts and mentally delete your name and your face from all of them.

Read what's left. Is there an idea there?

A warning, a way of seeing something that someone could actually take with them?

If there's nothing left, you already know why it's quiet. And it's not the algorithm. So before your next post, ask yourself two questions: How is my point of view different from others? And how can I prove it? Don't stop posting.

Change what you're posting about. And tell me, what is stopping you from being consistent with your content right now?

Is it the fear of being judged, the fear of the camera, or you simply don't know what exactly you should be posting?
